ZEN.COM is a distinguished fintech company that has rapidly emerged as a leader in the e-money space, particularly within the European Economic Area. The company's innovative financial services cater to both individual and business clients, offering multi-currency IBAN accounts, money transfers, account top-ups, and the ZEN Mastercard® payment cards. Recognized for its excellence with the Fintech Summit Awards in 2023, ZEN.COM is the fourth-largest financial institution in Lithuania and boasts strategic partnerships with Mastercard, VISA, Union Pay, PrivatBank and cooperation with global and local payment methods strives to meet the most demanding expectations of users.

Since partnering with PrivatMoney in 2023, ZEN.COM has enabled users to quickly and affordably receive money transfers from any European country, with funds available in USD, EUR, PLN or UAH.

Initial Data

We had successfully collaborated with ZEN.COM several months prior to the start of the blog, providing PR services and helping them create and effectively distribute quality content. Satisfied with the quality and thoughtful approach we consistently bring to content creation, they saw us as the natural choice to support their new blog. 

The client already had an established website and a fully functional mobile app. Their blog was available in two languages: English and Polish. The English version had been running since January 2022, while the Polish version launched in July 2022. However, there was no existing Ukrainian blog, so our goal was to create it from scratch, ensuring consistency with the existing content while also adapting it to the needs of the Ukrainian audience.

Challenges

  • Building the Ukrainian version of the blog that ranks well for informational queries in a highly competitive fintech niche.
  • Developing a well-structured content strategy that aligns with the needs of the target audience while focusing on SEO best practices.
  • Filling the blog with expertly crafted content.

We began the works in August 2023. Our first steps included conducting a thorough audit and competitor analysis, which we completed by the end of August. In September 2023, we guided the client’s developers in implementing the SEO recommendations for the blog, created a detailed content plan, and started writing articles. The first publications appeared in August 2023, but regular blog updates began in October 2023.

Since then, during six months of active content publishing, the Ukrainian version of the blog has generated impressive results:

  • 29% of all blog clicks come from the Ukrainian version, according to Search Console data.
  • In April alone, organic traffic reached 2,800 sessions (as reported by SC).
  • From October 2023 to April 2024, the total organic traffic amounted to 7,739 sessions (according to SC).
  • By the end of April (after six months), the blog began securing Top-1 positions and featured snippets in search results for a number of queries in Ukrainian.

Solution

To create an optimized Ukrainian version of the blog, we used the existing structure of the English blog as a foundation and adapted the content for the Ukrainian market. 

Every month, we create a content plan that guides the consistent development of new articles. Our team manages the entire content creation process, from drafting to finalization, ensuring each piece is SEO-optimized and adheres to Google's guidelines for YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) websites. This means ensuring the articles are useful, expert-driven, and unique, meeting the stringent requirements for quality and reliability in this sensitive industry. To encourage conversions, we strategically include motivational sections within the articles that guide readers toward becoming ZEN.COM service users.

Initially, the ZEN.COM team handled the publishing of the articles. However, as our collaboration deepened, the Promodo content team took over the responsibility of uploading and managing all blog content directly through the admin panel.

Our approach to developing ZEN.COM’s Ukrainian blog involved three key stages:

1. Industry and Competitor Analysis

We started by analyzing the niche and competitors, which is a crucial step in developing an effective SEO content plan. This analysis helps identify what content is already performing well in the industry, uncovering gaps and opportunities where our blog could stand out. It also allows us to better understand user intent, the most relevant keywords, and how to align our strategy with what the target audience is searching for. 

  • We carefully studied competing blogs, identifying the most effective content types and topics that generated substantial organic traffic.
  • We conducted thorough keyword research and semantic analysis to ensure our content strategy was aligned with relevant search queries and also was able to compete for positions within popular keywords. 

This foundation helped us craft a content plan focusing on topics like personal finance, money transfers, online shopping, and financial guides—key interests for ZEN.COM’s audience.

2. Blog Setup and Initial Content Development
The first publications appeared in August 2023, featuring press releases about the brand’s entry into the Ukrainian market and its partnership with PrivatBank. These articles served a dual purpose: establishing brand expertise while introducing Ukrainian users to ZEN.COM’s offerings.

The blog articles were crafted with conversion in mind. Each piece included motivational sections and conversion elements, such as links guiding readers to the main website, encouraging them to explore the product further and download the app. For instance, an article might explain how ZEN Mastercard® verification works, highlighting the benefits of their system, and leading readers toward taking action.

Here is an example of a motivational block with an inserted internal link:

“Verification of the ZEN Mastercard® payment card is carried out automatically by monitoring systems within a few seconds in accordance with the legislation of the European Union. Some payments require manual verification, which takes up to 3 days. This is necessary in order to 

  • protect your money from fraudulent activities; 
  • verify the source of funds and legal grounds;
  • track the regularity and amount of your regular payments. 

ZEN.COM cares about the protection of your accounts and the security of financial transactions.”

The content quality not only ensured us top positions for multiple queries, but also secured our blog articles a position in the Featured Snippet section:

3. Ongoing Content Strategy Optimization
Regular content publication began in October 2023, supported by continuous monitoring and analysis of content performance. 

Each month, we: 

  • Analyze traffic, keyword rankings and the effectiveness of published content;
  • Monitor the blog for technical issues;
  • Prepare briefs for resolving those issues;
  • Oversee the implementation of the fixes.

This helps us refine the content plan and adjust topic focus based on reader preferences.
